Planning Resources
So you’ve planned your big day. You’ve got your vendors secured, your location picked out, your photographer booked (the most important part ;)) & your officiant is chosen. But now you’re realizing that you don’t even know what to pack with you! You’ve seen the photos on pinterest of couples carrying full packs up a mountain to their ceremony, but what do they have in there? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! It’s always best to over prepare than to under pack, but you also don’t want to carry an uncomfortably heavy pack up the side of a mountain.
The Essentials:
Cell phone with offline downloaded map loaded onto phone
Portable phone charger
Paper map of trails in case phone dies
Water bottles (I usually suggest a liter per mile hiked. If more than 3 miles, consider bringing a water filter so that you won’t have to carry as much water)
Snacks!!
Sunscreen
Towel/wipes for sweat
Bug spray
Lint Roller
Sunglasses
Small first aid kit that includes bandaids, OTC medicines, & any prescription medications that will be needed
Clothing & Gear:
Backpack to carry gear
Hiking boots or trail runner shoes
Wool socks
Fingerless gloves (fall/winter/spring)
Hand warmers (fall/winter/spring)
Rain jacket or rain poncho
Headlamp & extra batteries
Blanket to sit on or snuggle into if it’s cold
Extra layers (Even in summer! It can get cold in the mountains)
Wedding Related Items:
Vow books/letters/etc.
Rings & ring boxes
Bouquet/florals/boutonniere
Waterproof bag (for vow books, etc.)
Wedding announcement/invitation for detail shots
Dress, Suit, etc.
Accessories – jewelry, watches, belt, veil, hat, cufflinks, hair clips, etc.
Garment bags & hangers
Perfume or cologne
Makeup & hair necessities in small travel case. (makeup wipes, bobby pins, lipstick, hair spray, comb, mascara, etc.)
Champagne & flutes
Tissues
Cake/cupcakes & plates
Garbage bag
Important Documents:
Marriage license, pens, & hard surface (clipboard)
Travel ID if needed
Elopement timeline
Special Use Permits (if needed)
It may seem like there’s a lot of items on this list, but it’s only because it’s best to be prepared. I highly recommend packing a few days in advance so that nothing is forgotten. To make your planning & packing easier, here are items that I always bring to adventure elopements so that you don’t even need to think about it.
Items I will always bring:
Popup changing tent
Two clear umbrellas for y’all to use in case of rain
Larger first aid kit
Toilet paper & hand sanitizer just in case

"Kirsten was so sweet and fun to hang out with - it felt like we brought a friend along with us! She captured everything I wanted and gave us the perfect photos for us to remember our special day.
We received a mix of candid photos and portraits.
I thought I would feel awkward taking portraits. but she gave great prompts that made it fun and had us laughing. When I received my photos. I was blown away at how natural we looked and how much of our love was captured in the photos. I am literally obsessed with how our pictures came out!"

"Kirsten produced lovely photos from our very dreamy and memorable mountain photo shoot. We display the engagement photos proudly all around our house. She knows the area well and can suggest areas if you are not.
She's non-judgmental if you're nervous about being in front of a camera and LGBTQ+ friendly! We highly recommend Kirsten to anyone looking to get engaged or elope in the Asheville area."

"Kirsten was absolutely amazing to work with! While visiting the States on our honeymoon, we arranged to have photos taken to commemorate our elopement, and Kirsten took our vision and ran with it! Kirsten made the the entire experience so easy for us - from helping us plan and pick a venue, to bringing her pop-up tent for a wardrobe change at the top of the mountain.
Kirsten went above and beyond The photos themselves are more beautiful than we could have hoped for. and we are so grateful. Could not recommend Kirsten enough!"
