I absolutely love taking photos of couples whether for your engagement, proposal, anniversary, or just because. All couples sessions include location suggestions, a style guide to help choose outfits & coverage on both digital & film. As an experienced Asheville engagement photographer, I’m here to help from planning the perfect session, to where to eat afterwards & whatever else you need.

Hi! I’m Kirsten, your Asheville engagement photographer.
There’s so many things you can do to make your engagement session meaningful & unique – going to breweries, a restaurant, or a flower farm, hiking, driving up to the blue ridge parkway, going to a bookstore or a brewery & having a picnic – just to name a few.
My style is candid & fun. If you’re wanting photos that show the story of your engagement and your love for one another, you’re in the right place.
You can count on me to help with vendor & location recommendations, permit assistance, & other logistics.

2. LET’S CHAT
We’ll figure out the vibe you want for your engagement session. Whether you want it at a park, in a studio, on top of a mountain, at a brewery, or wherever! No, really. I offer travel engagement sessions. If you’re also planning on hiring me for your wedding, this allows you to get a taste of what my shooting style is like so you know exactly what to expect on your big day.
3. Choose a Package
We’ll chat a little about the logistics and narrow down which package fits your needs. Then we’ll talk about pricing & I’ll explain all of the unique services I offer to couples! Such as coverage on both film & digital, astro-photography for engagements, & more! 😉
4. Let’s Plan!
I’ll answer any questions you have as well as send you guides & resources. If needed, I’ll help with vendor recommendations, location ideas, & so much more. I’ll prep you and your partner to feel comfortable in front of the camera so that you can let your true personalities shine in the photos.
5. Enjoy the session
You’ve worked super hard to plan your dream session, & now it’s here!! Just be yourselves, enjoy the session (it goes quick!) & know that I have the photos taken care of.
6. What you’ve been waiting for
I’ll send a sneak peek of your session within 24 hours but usually the same day. Then you can expect the rest of your gallery within 4 weeks – but usually way sooner because even after all the couples I’ve photographed, I still get SO excited to edit & deliver your precious memories. 🙂 After you receive all your photos you can order prints, wall art, & albums.

After answering a short questionnaire, I’ll send you a custom location guide full of beautiful places to choose from for your photo session. Whether you want to explore downtown, hike up a mountain to a beautiful view, or do a fun activity like going to a book store or have a picnic.

All of my local packages include my local travel costs. Anything further is a flat fee and covers all of my travel. I have three package choices for local sessions, and an anywhere in the USA package. You’ll never have any hidden or unexpected fees.

frequently asked questions
WHAT IF I’M AWKWARD IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA?
I promise you that every couple you see on this website felt exactly the same! I like to get to know my couples better so that it’s less weird when we finally meet. I’ll use plenty of prompts to get y’all laughing, cuddling & feeling comfortable in no time.
WHAT IF I DON’T KNOW WHERE TO DO OUR PHOTO SESSION?
No worries! After chatting about what type of vibe you’re wanting for your photos (mountains, city, etc.), we’ll get you booked for the package that fits those vibes. Then the first thing I do after you’ve booked is send a short questionnaire to narrow down the options. After that, I’ll send a custom location guide based off of your questionnaire answers.
CAN WE GO TO MULTIPLE LOCATIONS?
Of course! If you want to go to a waterfall & a mountain or a vineyard & a coffee shop, we can do it all! Each of my packages include a set number of locations. To add an additional location within 30 minutes of your last location as well as an additional hour of coverage is $800.
CAN WE BRING MULTIPLE OUTFITS?
Depending on the package you choose, maybe! Just know that your package coverage time is continuous so you may need to add on additional coverage depending on how long the outfit change takes. I do have a pop-up changing tent so you don’t need to choose a location with a restroom in order to have some privacy for changing.
How far in advance do we have to book?
Couples & engagement sessions on weekend dates should be booked 3-6 months in advance. If you want a weekday session, you can book as far in advance as a year. If I have the availability, I’m able to book even just a week in advance.
What if we only want a 10 minute session with a couple of photos?
Then I’m not the photographer for you. In my experience, it’s not possible to get the same positive client experience when the session is shorter than an hour. Sometimes it takes couples up to 20 minutes to get completely comfortable in front of the camera. While the photos from the entire session are always beautiful, the best ones are usually taken that last 15-30 minutes. Another reason I do not offer these are because 95% of my couples choose a location that involves a hike and a long drive. It just doesn’t make sense to drive so far or to hike so far for only a couple of photos.

One of my favorite parts about living in Asheville has been exploring the city and the mountains with my partner. I’ve gotten to share my favorite hiking spots with so many couples & have gotten to know so many awesome people. It really is awesome seeing such beautiful places in the blue ridge mountains and in town become an important part of my couples’ love stories just as they’ve become a part of mine & my partner’s.
