Guide to a winter Boone NC elopement, in the blue ridge mountains.

The Boone, NC area is only a couple hours away from Asheville, so if you’re looking for more information on eloping in Western North Carolina, checkout my How to Elope in NC Guide. You might also want to checkout my What to Bring to Your Adventure Elopement Guide. These are just a few resources I’ve created to help couples planning to elope. For more checkout the blog.

Where to Stay

So you’re thinking about eloping in Boone, NC? If you’re wanting to elope here in the winter, the cozy owl cabin is a great choice! Nestled in the mountains, this aframe cabin has beautiful lighting for your getting ready photos. If there is snow you will need a 4WD or AWD vehicle to get to the cabin, otherwise you may get stuck. The road is paved but it is steep & slippery when there’s snow.

Where to Have Your Boone NC Elopement Ceremony

The most popular places in Boone to have your elopement ceremony would be one of the many overlooks along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Unfortunately, in the winter the parkway is closed most of the time due to ice & snow on the roads.

Beacon Heights

One spot that has a separate access point is the trail to Beacon Heights. The parking lot is on the Blue Ridge & inaccessible in the winter, but there’s another road that parallels the parkway that remains open & there’s some parking available along this road. Beacon heights is a short quarter mile to the top. Also, both sunset & sunrise are beautiful from this ridge.
